The territory of Piacenza has always been considered the cradle of wines, and it is here, among the sweet hills, that the Cantina Mossi has been operating since 1558, a producer of Doc wines typical of the territory, such as Ortrugo, Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and Barbera, as well as to international varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Merlot and Chardonnay.
The Mossi farm has the merit of being the first to vinify a unique grape of its kind, Malvasia Rosa, a spontaneous genetic mutation of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, a native Piacenza wine.
In addition, the Mossi company during the 70s was the first winery to make pure ortrugo wine, which is one of the spearheads of the Piacenza wine sector.
A two-sided company: traditional because it aims to preserve biodiversity thanks to its experimental vineyard which houses many local varieties, even close to extinction, with the aim of being able to better study which types of vines are most resilient to climate change .
Modern, because it looks to the future, with a keen eye on sustainability, adopting advanced measures to be able to intervene immediately and consequently reduce both excessive soil compaction and environmental impact. With regard to this issue, the company has joined the national V.I.V.A project, with the aim of improving the company’s sustainability performance through the analysis of four indicators (air, water, territory, vineyard).
Passing on the knowledge of the Piacenza area, using scientific and technological skills, combined with passion and the continuous desire to improve, represent the secrets to be able to offer products of ever-increasing quality, guaranteeing the consumer a very wide range of wines, from native wines to drink every day to the most refined ones, perfect for special occasions.
